Combining live-action and stop-motion animation, How To Hold An Apricot is a love letter to the 90s mandarin romance culture that my generation grew up in. Heavily influenced by pop music, films and TV shows of the era, this film pays tribute to the visual style and depiction of unrequitted love.

Cicada gives her three minutes to ask her questions.The maiden asks about life, about love, about traveling, about loneliness. Cicada answers them all. Through their conversation, their minds travel to a space broader than anywhere.

It's a story of dreams and fears. Hypnotized by the wizard, the princess fell asleep, visited three rooms in her dreams, and with the encounter of Bullhead Man, Monk and Snail Man faced her deepest fears.
The fears of the princess are the fears of mine. Making this film felt like going through a long dream - I was the creator, but in my creation I could but only witness. Yet the journey of dream itself is always necessary to guide my direction of the journey awake.
